Learn more about this custom handmade ceramic vessel sink! This listing is for
a custom, made to order sink that will take about 4-6 weeks to make, dry and
fire. There are many different color schemes you can choose from or I can match
your colors if you have something different in mind. I can make the tail wrap
around more or less of the sink depending on your desire. This price is for a
round sink up to 15" in diameter and up to 6" deep. The drain hole will
accomadate up to a 1 5/8" pipe which works for the 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" as well.

Every thing about my sinks is handmade, I even make my own clay. I first throw
the sink on the potter's wheel. Once it is firm enough I turn it over and trim
a foot ring on the underside so it sits nicely on a vanity top. The peacock is
made from a series of stamps I cerated. Each tail feather segment is individual
and I create the tail by layering the hand cut feathers and joining them to the
sink with liquid clay that acts like glue to make it one. The sink then needs
to dry slowly to avoid cracking over a period of a week or two then gets fired
twice (a prefire to hold the glaze then the glaze firing.


My sinks are wheel thrown porcelain then I add the hand stamped borders piece
by piece. I usually make two sinks for each one ordered to insure one comes
make it successfully threw the drying and firing process, because of this they
are a lot of work. Please convo me in you are interested in a larger sink.

Crystalline glazed ceramics is a very involved process. The flower-like
appearance of the glaze is actually zinc crystals that grow in the glaze during
a slow controlled cooling after the peak temperature is reached. The glaze is
very fluid and tends to run of the pot so a catcher is also thrown and fired
under the piece to catch the run off glaze. The catcher is then separated and
the bottom is ground down if there are any sharp edges or uneven glaze pools.
Since the process is so involved there is a lot that can go wrong, so each
successful piece is precious and completely unique.

The porcelain is a cone 9 porcelain fired to cone 9, that means it is
completely vitrified (glass like) and will not absorb water. Please do not use
abrasive cleaners (this will wear down the glaze over time). Plumbing not
included.

fedex pack them so if they do break in shipping fedex will reimburse the cost.
